Synopsis

It is impossible not to admire the dynamics of rowing movements in rowing races, the boats and the athletes who tirelessly continue the movements. Although boats and oars are technologically advanced today, there must definitely be a discipline, technique and a force that challenges people in the nature of the sport. Rowing is actually a power and grace sport that covers all difficulties and challenges the athlete. The rower works hard until he reaches the elite level, but he is a chosen athlete. He is special. He is graceful. Rowing is undoubtedly a lifestyle when looking at the elite athletes of the past. He pulls his oar until the last moment and does not give up. The rower moves with his own breath, the sound of the water and the rhythm of nature. There is a freedom in rowing races. The athlete is alone with himself. However, in order to be successful, the athlete needs a perfect performance in addition to a technique and strategy. Rowing is one of the rare sports branches that can be chosen after beautiful stories and success stories or with the guidance of a good coach or teacher. Because there are no big transfer fees or big money to be earned in Rowing. However, it requires the same performance and mentality as elite athletes who earn big money. A rowing athlete does not emerge like a football player who has a very good left foot and can throw the ball wherever he wants with his foot, and has natural talents such as dribbling.

Talent is not sought in someone who does rowing. Talent is not born either. However, an interest or even a passion for water and rowing may be required. Education is definitely required. In addition to rhythm, balance and coordination, an ideal physique and endurance are important. But above all, as a common idea of successful rowers, it is necessary to work hard with patience, determination, self-belief and trust. Every candidate rower starts the sport from the same starting point and progresses with great difficulties as a result of the work. Sometimes they have to spend days, months or even years with their teammates doing the same job in a small boat. Athletes with great strength and patience can reach the title of elite athlete. While the days spent together turn into friendship and brotherhood, a sense of solidarity also develops. Rowing develops individuals both physically and psychologically in a strong way. This harmony and development in boats is a subject that science must observe. In this section, the history of rowing sports and the physiology and some psychological parameters of the rower are examined.
