Synopsis
The logistics sector has a critical place in global economies and has entered a significant transformation process in recent years with the impact of Industry 4.0. This transformation has accelerated with the integration of innovative technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), big data, blockchain, artificial intelligence and cloud computing into the sector. Innovation in logistics has not only enabled operational processes to be managed more efficiently and cost-effectively; it has also made significant contributions to the sector in terms of traceability, transparency, flexibility and environmentally friendly practices. This study comprehensively examines the historical development of innovation in logistics, the effects of technological innovations on the sector and future predictions. The transformations experienced in the process from Logistics 1.0 to Logistics 4.0 have been associated with radical changes in supply chain management; the effects of this transformation on the global competitiveness of businesses and customer satisfaction have been examined. In addition, it has been emphasized how technological innovations respond to contemporary business requirements such as sustainability and agility. As a result, it is stated that innovation in the logistics sector is possible not only with technological advances but also with a strategic vision and an innovative approach. It is predicted that in countries with strategic locations such as Turkey, the logistics sector can become even stronger with innovative solutions and stand out in global competition. This study aims to provide important inferences about the sector by examining in detail the journey of innovation in logistics from the historical context to the future.
