Synopsis
In every moment of life, it is expected that the individual will behave in accordance with morality. The same expectation is also present in sports. Respecting each other and the limits of competition, exhibiting behaviors that protect conscientious values while fighting during their activities constitute the ethics of sports (Bayraktar, 2022). At the focal point of the concept of morality, which has a framework of certain rules, the behaviors exhibited by the individual in the society and the relations that are the result of these behaviors are discussed. In other words, the behaviors of people are compared with the rules in the memory of the society, and the main purpose is to continue the appropriate behaviors and limit the unapproved behaviors. In this respect, the relationship between morality and sports is very close. Ethics, on the other hand, is the set of principles that inform what is right and wrong in the behavior of individuals or communities (Bayraktar, 2022). Ethics is about the instant or long-term decision-making process in the experiences experienced in the events encountered (Küçükoğlu, 2012). The purpose of ethics in sports is to ensure that individuals comply with the principles that are known to everyone and regulated according to the spirit of sports, and compete in a fair, honest and respectful manner. Ensuring ethics in sports is based on the fact that the athletes have an ethical understanding and act accordingly. In this context, in the current section, sports ethics and ethics in sports are tried to be discussed.
