Synopsis

It is known that sport, one of the most important recreational activities, has both health and social benefits for individuals. In today's societies, sports activities are given more and more importance every day. There is more interest in sports in developed and developing societies. In this context, we can say that sports culture has increased in direct proportion to the development levels of societies. Our era is a very important social institution that affects all aspects of social life in modern societies and is accepted as an indicator of the cultural and welfare level. Today, it is accepted that there is a positive parallel between the increase in conscious sports participation of peoples and the Deceleration levels of societies. The recent increase in interest in sports activities, the development of the boundaries of the concept of sports, reveal the close relationship between cultural and social structures and sports activities. When the findings are examined, individuals who have high life satisfaction do sports because they believe in the benefits of sports. In the same way, individuals with low life satisfaction do not do sports due to lack of time. When the reasons for doing and not doing sports are examined in general, they may vary according to life satisfaction. The reasons for individuals to participate or not to participate in sports activities differ according to various demographic variables such as age, gender, occupation, marital status, education level and economic status.
