Synopsis

The purpose of this research; The aim of this study is to examine the psychological resilience and happiness levels of university students who do and do not exercise in terms of various variables. The research group consists of 405 students studying at Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University in the 2022-2023 academic year. “Personal Information Form”, “Short Psychological Resilience Scale” and “Oxford Happiness Scale (Short Form) were used as data collection tools. In the analysis of the data, first of all, normality analysis, then descriptive analysis, independent groups t-test, One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and simple linear regression analysis were applied. SPSS 22.0 package program was used for the data obtained in the research. It has been determined that students who exercise have higher happiness and psychological well-being scores than those who do not exercise. A positive and significant relationship was found between the psychological well-being levels of the participants and their general grade point average, the number of exercises per week, monthly income, number of siblings, mother's education level and father's education level. A positive and significant relationship was found between the happiness scores of the participants and their age, number of exercises per week, and monthly income. A positive and significant relationship was found between the psychological well-being and happiness levels of the participants. It is seen that as the happiness levels of the participants increase, their psychological levels increase. In addition, the fact that the psychological well-being and happiness levels of the participants who exercise are higher than those who do not do sports shows that exercise and sports have positive effects on the quality of life.
