Synopsis

Village Institutes, which operated between 1940 and 1954 in Turkish Education History, have been the subject of many novels. The purpose of this study is to evaluate Village Institutes, which were implemented for a period in Turkish Education History, in two novels. The document analysis method was adopted in the study. In this context, Kemal Tahir's Bozkırdaki Çekirdek and Mahmut Makal's Bizim Köy novel were examined. Codes were obtained in teacher, student, school, and villager categories using content analysis. Similar findings were reached regarding the problems teachers experienced in village institutes, students' situations, the villagers' general life perception, and their perspectives on education. As a result of the research, it was seen that although they approached from different perspectives, some common evaluations were made in both novels regarding Village Institutes.
