Synopsis

The business world is developing thanks to the efforts of employees. Even if organizations become different with modern life, the labor that always works will have a valuable place in organizational life. The importance that the employee shows to his work is reflected in his attitudes and behaviors. The disturbing extremism of this attitude and behavior sometimes manifests itself in the form of ‘workaholism’. Although workaholism may seem nice in today's business world from the point of view of employers, it should be considered that excessive everything can be dangerous in business life as well as in social life. In this study, the concept of workaholism will be evaluated by considering the framework of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries with excessive working hours in 2023. The aim of this study is to ensure that the concept of workaholism is addressed in its international dimension with overtime working hours, and to draw attention to the effects of workaholism in organizational life.
