Synopsis

There is a two-way interaction between nutrition and mental health. The harmful or extra foods we consume and other foods that are not taken in sufficient amounts can affect mental health positively or negatively. After a while, it is inevitable that the current mental state will affect the diet. Therefore, a holistic health approach is adopted today in maintaining general health and mental health. Therefore, nutrition is an important factor in creating a healthy lifestyle. The priorities that need to be addressed in order to protect, improve and maintain health and mental health can be summarized as follows; Macronutrients (protein, carbohydrates and fat) should be consumed in an adequate and balanced manner. It is important to be aware of the importance of micronutrients (vitamins B, C, D, E, Mg, Fe, Zinc minerals) in nutrition and to show the necessary care and sensitivity to their consumption. It has become a necessity today to eliminate gastrointestinal problems, create a healthy intestinal flora, understand the importance of microbiota and eat a diet rich in prebiotics. Another important point is to maintain appropriate diets (casein-free-gluten-free diet, ketogenic diet, Mediterranean diet) in the management of certain symptoms or to prevent disorders.
