Synopsis

Inflation is defined as significant and continuous increases in the general level of average prices. Since economic actors mostly consider prices in their economic decisions, the disruption of price stability can lead to a complete disruption of macroeconomic stability. The fight against inflation can be done with Orthodox and/or Heterodox approaches. While the Orthodox approach is through balancing aggregate demand with monetary and fiscal policies, the Heterodox approach attempts to freeze prices and wages at least temporarily. The aim of this study is to analyze inflation-fighting policies; however, inflation, a problem that has left its mark on recent times in Türkiye and the world, is addressed from a very broad perspective.
