Synopsis

Sustainability has evolved from a mere vision of the future to an unavoidable reality of the present. The advent of digitalization has equipped businesses with innovative tools to help them attain their sustainability objectives, yet several challenges remain to be addressed. One significant concern is employee resistance and disengagement, which often arise from the rapid implementation of time-consuming new processes. Employee engagement is not a one-time fix but rather an ongoing, integrated mindset. As digitalization continues to advance, future jobs will demand a wider range of skills, and many monotonous, repetitive tasks will likely become obsolete. This chapter aims to provide a thorough examination of the interplay between the economic, social, and societal dimensions of sustainability and employee engagement—an essential factor in shaping the future. Additionally, it seeks to enrich the existing literature by offering practical recommendations for both businesses and their employees.
