Academic Overview: Tourism Sector
Synopsis
Tourism is a complex phenomenon that creates deep effects on the economic, social and cultural fabric of modern societies and requires an interdisciplinary study in this context. The tourism sector, which includes economics, sociology, psychology, marketing, environmental sciences, cultural studies and many other disciplines, creates a wide area of influence from individuals to societies, from local to global dynamics.
This work has been prepared to examine the multifaceted and interdisciplinary structure of tourism in more depth. The 11 chapters in the book examine tourism science from various perspectives and reveal how this field opens the door to a wide range of research. In our age, where globalization and digitalization are accelerating, the tourism sector is rapidly transforming and this transformation necessitates the consideration of variables affecting the sector with an interdisciplinary understanding. Issues such as technological developments, climate change, the protection of cultural diversity and sustainable development goals reveal the necessity of reshaping the sector with new approaches.
We would like to express our gratitude to all our authors who made valuable contributions reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of tourism in the preparation of the work and to those who contributed to every stage of the study. We hope that this book will not only be a resource for understanding the multidimensional structure of tourism, but will also strengthen the interaction between the academic community and the sector.
