Synopsis

Physical literacy is a concept that encourages the participation of individuals in physical activities, developing them physically, cognitively, socially and emotionally. When evaluated in terms of physical education and sports teachers, this concept both increases the professional responsibilities of teachers and contributes to the holistic development of students. Physical education classes are one of the most effective ways to improve physical literacy. In these lessons, teachers play a key role in developing their students' motor skills, motivation for physical activity and healthy living habits. Based on all these, in this section, the concept of physical literacy is discussed in terms of physical education and sports teachers.
