Synopsis
The article examines the intercultural sensitivity levels of sport science faculty students. It is emphasised that sport is an important tool for developing social skills and establishing interaction between individuals from different cultures. In the study, the effect of variables such as gender, age, financial income, education department and class level on the level of sensitivity was analysed. The findings show that women have higher intercultural sensitivity levels than men. There is a slight increase in sensitivity levels as age increases, but there is no significant difference. As the level of financial income increased, a decrease in sensitivity levels was found. In addition, it was determined that the students of the department of coaching education had higher sensitivity levels compared to other departments. The study revealed that social and academic experiences are effective on intercultural sensitivity and some socioeconomic factors may have negative effects on this sensitivity.
This study emphasises the importance of social and academic experiences for increasing intercultural awareness of sport science students and examines the effects of different demographic factors on sensitivity levels.
