Synopsis

Around the world, old paradigms for understanding the management of health services to improve health are gradually becoming obsolete and new ideas, new perspectives and approaches are being implemented. In order to provide the best service in line with this change, health leaders need to develop innovative thinking, solution-oriented ethical behavior and an age-appropriate leadership style. The presence of each member of the healthcare team is very important. For this reason, in order for the nursing profession to embrace the future in health services, it needs to adapt postmodern and contemporary thoughts to its profession in the process of scientificization. Nursing is a profession that has its own specialization areas and practice-based practices and prioritizes research and questioning. Nurses create plans to solve problems arising in the treatment and care of patients, implement these plans and evaluate the results. Due to their professional roles, they undertake important tasks to improve the quality of health services while guiding various groups in society. It is very important for nurse leaders to be successful in the workplace in order to positively affect staff, patient care and organizations within the organization. In the nursing profession, the leadership characteristics of nurse managers towards their subordinates are very important in increasing the quality of nursing services.  For this reason, the study was conducted as a review to investigate the leadership perceptions and behaviors of nurse managers.
