Synopsis

The efficiency of professional tourist guides in the tourism industry is an important element as it directly affects tourist satisfaction and perception of the destination. Identifying and improving the factors affecting the efficiency of tourist guides is important for all stakeholders in the tourism sector. It is a great responsibility to introduce rich historical cultures such as Gaziantep and Şanlıurfa, which are home to many civilizations and formed by the synthesis of the cultures of these civilizations. The guides' skill in informing tourists has many benefits, such as ensuring the repeat visit of that destination, its promotion, preservation of its values, and establishing a bond between local people and tourists. The feedback of these benefits constitutes the effectiveness of the guide. Therefore, a survey was applied to 384 professional activeinactive tourist guides affiliated with GARO and ŞURO in order to determine the productivity levels of professional tourist guides registered to GARO and ŞURO in terms of various factors and to reveal the factors affecting their work efficiency. As a result of the research, parametric analyzes were applied according to the distribution of the data obtained. The data collected by survey method with the Statistical Package Program, reliability analysis, descriptive statistics, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis, independent samples T-Test and ANOVA Test were conducted through the AMOS program. In line with the results obtained, it was concluded that certain demographic characteristics and promotional information are effective on the efficiency of tourist guides. In addition, tour programs and professional collaborations, group harmony and professional opportunities, work efficiency and job security positively affect the productivity of tourist guides; It was determined that group and guide requests had a significant negative impact.
