Synopsis

This study emphasizes the necessity of mental training to enhance athletes' performance. Various stages of mental training are examined, highlighting the need to utilize various techniques to improve athletes' mental skills and enhance their performance. It is emphasized that certain stages must be followed for athletes to become mentally prepared from the adaptation stage to the specialization stage, and the role of mental training on sports psychology and its potential to enhance behavioral, emotional, and psychological performance is underscored. In this study, various mental training techniques such as autogenic exercises, transcendental meditation, hypnosis, imagery, breathing exercises, biofeedback, yoga, and progressive relaxation are explained to be used in improving athletes' performances and developing their mental skills. The regular application of these techniques can play a significant role in athletes' preparation processes for competitions.
