Synopsis
This study aimed to examine the sports engagement levels of students studying at sports high schools and sports sciences faculty. Ethics committee approval was received for the research. The research group consists of a total of 504 student athlete, 215 from Konya sports high school and 289 from Selçuk University sports sciences faculty. A personal information form and the sports engagement scale developed by Guillen and Martinez-Alvarado (2014) and adapted into Turkish by Kayhan et al. (2020) were used to obtain the data. The obtained data were first loaded into the SPSS 25.0 package program and their variance and homogeneity were tested. Independent t test was used for pairwise comparisons, One Vay Anowa test was used for multiple comparisons and Post Hoc test was used to determine differences. As a result of the statistical analysis, no change was found in the sports engagement score averages of sports high school and sports sciences faculty students depending on their gender, age and education level. A statistically significant difference was detected in the sports engagement values of the participants depending on the branch factor (p<0.05). It is seen that individuals who do team sports have higher average scores than those who do individual sports. In addition, it is seen that the sports engagement score average of all students participating in the study is very high, and both sports high school and sports science faculty students are committed to sports.
