Synopsis

Reşit Hanadan is one of the important writers of contemporary Kosovo Turkish literature. He is known for his stories and novels. In his works, he mostly deals with topics such as war, village life, social problems, financial difficulties, homesickness, ignorance, bigotry and education. It has a social realist perspective. He chooses the people and places he uses in his novel from his close circle. Especially in his novels, starting from historical events, he sheds light on the experiences of Turks in Rumelia in the last hundred years. The "Stone is Heavy in its Place" novel trilogy, published in three volumes between 2002 and 2013, was published in II. It is about the oppression, violence and mass migration movements in the Balkans after World War II. Although the setting seems very large in the novel, the events take place in the village of Mamusha in Prizren, where only Turks live. The first two volumes focus on the deterioration of the social structure. In the last volume, the migration of the people, who were completely hopeless and writhing in despair, to Turkey is told.

Our aim is to examine the novel trilogy “A Stone is Heavy in Its Place”, without ignoring historical facts, especially through the events, real people, places and dates used by the author. In addition, the phenomenon of migration will be emphasized by showing the various plans implemented to disrupt the social structure and the elements of oppression and violence.
