According to the data of the Turkish Statistical Institute, it is reported that 76.4% of all deaths in our country are due to chronic diseases, and the deaths are mostly related to circulatory system diseases, cancers, respiratory system diseases and endocrine diseases, respectively.
The burden of chronic diseases is a leading global health challenge and there is a strong link between high use of healthcare services and medical expenditures. For this reason, the concept of self-management is of great importance. In chronic diseases, self-management is defined as the individual's involvement in activities that protect and improve health, monitoring and managing the symptoms and signs of the disease, managing the impact of the disease on his emotions and social relations, and complying with the treatment.
