This research, which investigated the effect of academic writing and scientific research training given to teacher candidates on the development of their academic writing skills, was conducted at Muş Alparslan University Faculty of Education in the 2022-2023 academic year (spring semester). In this quasi-experimental research, the research was shaped with a pretest-posttest control group model. Academic writer's block scale were used in the research. Academic writing is an important aspect of education that helps students develop critical thinking, analytical skills, and communication abilities. The Council of Higher Education has added academic writing to the curriculum of the Turkish Language 2 course to improve the academic writing skills of teacher candidates. Academic writing skills are important in eliminating teacher candidates' problems with understanding what they read and writing. It has been determined in the literature review that studies on academic writing mostly include studies in which opinions are taken, and that studies that can improve students' academic writing skills through various applications are very limited. In the research, the Academic Writing Stiffness Scale prepared by Gülay and Ungan (2022) was applied to prospective teachers as a pretest, followed by a four-week scientific text writing training titled "What are the characteristics of academic language and writing?" How are definitions made in academic writings? How to use concepts and terms? What is the structure of academic texts? In academic texts, claims, propositions, etc. In what formats are expressions written? What are the formal characteristics of scientific reports and articles? What steps should be followed when writing a scientific report? How to write explanations, discussions, and intertextual relationship-building paragraphs? In what formats are references cited in academic writings? What ethical principles should be followed in scientific articles? Covered the titles. Additionally, prospective teachers were given academic text writing practices. Then, the same scale was applied for the final evaluation (posttest). The study concluded that academic writing and scientific research training improved the academic writing skills of teacher candidates.
