Synopsis
In this study, it was tried to explain the concepts of athletic mental energy as a concept used to express the mental states of sports and athletes, which are based on competition and performance-oriented within certain rules. In this context, in order to better explain the connection between sport and athletic mental energy, the concepts of energy as the capacity to do work and mental energy as the athlete's ability to think for long periods of time to perform a task, to concentrate and to avoid distractions were also mentioned. Sport, which is done within the determined rules and is competition-oriented, is generally evaluated by considering many physical, technical, tactical, mental and psychological dimensions. It is known that each dimension has a different level of importance in the formation of athletes' performances. When mental characteristics, one of these dimensions, are considered in terms of mental energy, which covers the emotional and mental energy levels of the athlete, it is important to express the importance of athletic mental energy, which expresses the current energy state of the athlete together with some psychological elements, for the athlete. As a result, in sports branches that are based on competition and are completely result-oriented within the framework of certain rules, it should be taken into consideration that the performance levels of the athletes should not be below a certain level and should be carried further from the current point. Based on the fact that abilities such as problem solving and decision making, which are needed abundantly in sports competitions, are directly related to mental energy and that it is a scientific reality that not only physical performance elements are not sufficient in the emergence of performance in athletes, but some psychological characteristics play a very important role in achieving a high level of efficiency, it can be said that athletic mental energy, which refers to the current energy state of the athlete, is a very important and key point for athletes to concentrate their subjective emotional intensity on performance.
