Synopsis

The main environmental problems caused by climate change include floods, erosion, forest fires, air pollution, extreme heat / coldness and drought. Depending on historical and social developments, it is seen that the causes and consequences of environmental problems are multidimensional in terms of socio-economic, socio-political, socio-demographic, socio-cultural and geographical aspects. While the consequences of climate change, which occurs due to various reasons, affects the whole world, it is reflected in individuals and societies in different ways. In addition to the geographical location of countries, their level of development can also be a determining factor in the effects of climate change. Climate change has effects on land borders, sea water rise, drought, environmental security, internal and external migration, resource management and urbanization. Regional differences in the form of sudden floods, drought, access to clean water, sea level rise/warming/cooling negatively affect sectors such as animal husbandry, tourism and agriculture for countries. For this reason, it is possible to say that the consequences of climate change are different for individuals who earn their living from agriculture, animal husbandry and tourism. Social inequalities that occur due to climate change also differ at the individual level. In this study, the definition and causes of climate change are included, as well as the discussion of climate change through women, who are among the disadvantaged individuals. The study aims to explain the effects of climate change on women's lives in the context of gender roles.
