The protests that started in Syria under the influence of the Arab Spring soon turned into a civil war. Syrians fleeing the civil war took refuge in Turkey en masse. For this reason, Turkey has been a country receiving intensive migration since 2011. In the first years, asylum-seekers were hosted in camps on the border. As the Syrian civil war did not end, the number of asylum-seekers increased and the camps ran out of space. This situation led asylum-seekers to go to the city of their choice. Especially Istanbul has been the city receiving the highest number of migrants. Asylum-seekers, who were welcomed with tolerance for a while with the discourses of guesthood and temporariness, caused uneasiness, especially in metropolitan cities with the prolongation of the period. The uneasiness has not been one-sided. Arab migrants are as anxious as the citizens of the Republic of Turkey. The main reason for the uneasiness is that both communities do not know each other. This unfamiliarity leads to a dilemma. The dilemma hidden in anxiety is open to manipulation. Anxiety can evolve into tolerance, solidarity, and cooperation, or it can evolve into intolerance, hatred, and racism. The study aims to show the uneasiness caused by migration within the framework of urban dynamics. In this respect, the causes of social uneasiness are examined. Zygmunt Bauman's views on modernization and ambiguity are the supporting theory of the concept of unease in the article.
