With the historical process, there has been an intensive development in folk dances, which are followed and admired with interest by almost all age groups, as in the institutional and sports fields. In this process, many sports organizations, festivals, competitions and leisure time activities have focused on psychological aspects to maximize their activities, competitions and athletes' performances in order to gain sustainability and competitive advantage. In this environment, the level of psychological resilience and satisfaction of athletes as well as the leadership qualities of coaches and how to determine them in the most accurate way has been an area that both practitioners and academics have been focusing on. Therefore, investigating the toxic leadership of coaches and the psychological resilience and satisfaction caused by these behaviors is considered to be of great importance in terms of revealing the potential to affect the productivity of folk dance teams and the well-being and performance of athletes.

Today, the fact that coaches engage in toxic behaviors, support or spread the negative culture that exists in the field of folklore can cause athletes to be anxious and face risks both in training and in the game process (competitions). In addition, it is also seen that folk dance athletes who receive training from coaches who show toxic behaviors bring many negativities such as despair, being angry, experiencing demoralization, being in miscommunication, not coming to trainings, quitting folk dances completely and increasing cynicism. In this context, toxic leadership in folk dances and folk dances is discussed in the current research.
