Synopsis

Today, the increase in tourism movements and the formation of different destination alternatives have caused the demands and expectations of consumers to differ. As a result of the increase in alternatives, it has made it difficult for individuals to make decisions and purchase processes. Considering the socio-economic impact of this increase in tourism mobility, the issue of focusing on the promotion of touristic regions has gained importance. Movies and TV series have started to be used as a promotional tool in the field of tourism, as they can affect the thoughts and attitudes of individuals in the region where movies and TV series were shoot. Films and TV series can be effective in deciding the destination preference by creating a certain image in the minds of the viewers about the places they would like to visit and see. Therefore, in this section, it has been tried to explain how important film tourism is among alternative tourism types. In addition, examples from the world and Turkey regarding the increase in the number of visits in the region after the films and TV series were given, and their positive effects on the region were mentioned.
