Synopsis

Overqualification refers to the situation where employees have more qualifications than the requirements of their job. Employees’ perceptions of overqualification affect their work attitudes, various workplace behaviors and work relationships. This research summarizes the research on the antecedents and successors of overqualification in line with the findings and judgments of theoretical, empirical and meta-analytical studies and presents a model that explains the antecedents and consequences as well as the mediators and moderator of overqualification. In addition, the importance of considering methodological issues in future research on overqualification was mentioned in the study.
