Synopsis

Malnutrition is due to the insufficient or excessive intake of nutrients necessary for growth and development and causes metabolic disturbances in the organism. Protein and/or calorie malnutrition first come to mind when malnutrition is mentioned. In addition, calorie excess such as obesity and vitamin toxicity are also included in the definition of malnutrition. Malnutrition, which is known as insufficient and unbalanced nutrition, can be an important public health problem for all age groups throughout life.
