Synopsis
Although advancing technology contributes to the development of modern medicine, alternative treatments are gaining popularity in our country in parallel with the world. Especially patients with pain and chronic diseases prefer alternative treatments, either legally or illegally. Since the concept of rehabilitation is a wide field with physical, social, psychological and social parameters, the concept of time is also discussed by some health professionals, where the concept of alternative medicine can be added to treatment modalities. It can be preferred by physiotherapy and rehabilitation therapists whom look at treatment from different perspectivesfrom different fields of expertise such as alternative medicine practices. Among the most frequently preferred alternative treatments in this section; In addition to homeopathic medicine and naturopathic medicine, which are the main treatment methods developed in the west, Indian-origin ayurveda and traditional Chinese medicine preferred in non-western cultures are examined. The reasons why alternative treatment is preferred are that individuals cultures, low cost, more accessible, non-invasive or less invasive, and being seen as a hope in the treatment of some diseases. It should not be forgotten that these treatments should be carried out by experts in the field.
