Synopsis

Sustainability has gained importance in the marketing literature during the recent years. However, social media stands out as an effective tool for consumers to adopt sustainable consumption habits. Green influencers or “greenfluencers” who promote environmentally friendly products and lifestyles on social media platforms have become important actors in sustainable marketing. These individuals create awareness by encouraging their followers to use environmentally friendly products and motivating them to adopt sustainable lifestyles. In this context, the current study will examine the role of green influencers in social media within the context of sustainable marketing strategies, their effects on consumer behavior and their strategic importance for businesses.
