Synopsis

Gamification is a method that uses the game design elements in non-game areas. to motivate people, provide behavioral change, support the learning process and increase participation.

Gamification is attractive because it supports learning by including internal and external motivation elements, making the activity enjoyable, motivating the individual by using feedback on behavior and creating permanent behavioral change while ensuring continuity in participation. It is possible to find the examples of use in education, health, sports, social media, sales-marketing and many institutional areas.

The popularity of gamification in the health system is increasing day by day due to the development of individual health technologies as a result of the need for an individual health monitoring system, the opportunity for remote patient monitoring, and the support for patients’ motivation and treatment compliance with an enjoyable nature.

Knee osteoarthritis is a painful chronic health problem that affects the individual's mobility, participation in life, and motivation and requires constant follow-up. In the management of this disease, it is extremely important to continue individual monitoring of health, to gain regular exercise habits, and to use methods that will make the individual active and motivated during the processes of disease management, as well as medical treatment.
