Synopsis

In an increasingly globalized world, sustainable practices have gained prominence throughout various processes, fostering awareness among individuals. These practices not only ensure the sustainable transformation of activities within society but also direct global operations toward sustainability. The concept of logistics involves delivering a product or service to the desired location by meeting customer demands, while also managing activities throughout the process. Given the environmental damage caused by logistics activities such as storage, handling, packaging, procurement, and transportation, it has become essential to make these activities more eco-friendly from every perspective. To mitigate the environmental impact of logistics, the concept of “Green Logistics” has emerged. Initiatives such as utilizing low-emission vehicles, green building practices, and electric vehicles in transportation are some of the contemporary activities associated with green logistics. The introduction of the “Green Logistics” concept into the literature has motivated companies to adopt more environmentally friendly operations, setting examples for society at large. Regulations and legislations introduced in conjunction with green logistics have become widespread globally and are known to be enforced by countries with the aim of ensuring a cleaner world for future generations. This study conducts a literature review on the concept of “Green Logistics” and examines the approaches of companies operating in Turkey toward this concept. The primary objective is to analyze the concept of green logistics in depth and to explore how Turkish companies engage with it. Furthermore, the study seeks to provide a guiding framework for companies interested in gaining insights into the fundamental requirements of green logistics practices by identifying eco-friendly methods.
