Synopsis
Quinoxaline derivatives are important heterocyclic compounds that are widely used especially in medical research due to their wide range of biological properties. Medical applications of quinoxaline derivatives are a field of study that attracts considerable attention today. However, these compounds are also known to have various applications in the fields of coordination chemistry and materials science. The studies carried out so far reveal that quinoxaline derivatives have antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, antituberculosis, antihypertensive, antiprotozoal, insecticidal, antimalarial, anticonvulsant, antidiabetic, anticancer, kinase inhibitors, antitumour, antiproliferative, antioxidant activities. The importance of these compounds in medical applications attracts great interest of researchers and leads them to design different synthetic routes for the development of new drug candidates.
In this chapter, recent developments in the field of medical applications of quinoxaline derivatives are summarised.
