In recent years, researchers have focused on the use of environmentally friendly and highly sustainable solvents instead of organic solvents, many of which are toxic and widely used in chemical production processes. In this context, ionic liquids offer an important alternative to traditional organic solvents. Ionic liquids are non-toxic, safe, environmentally friendly and highly sustainable solvents. In the search for sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions in the field of chemistry, the emergence of ionic liquids has been an important milestone. Ionic liquids, known as environmentally friendly green solvents, have gained importance as a new class of solvents that exhibit remarkable properties and show versatile potential in various applications.  Due to these properties, ionic liquids have attracted great interest in recent years as environmentally friendly and versatile solvents.

In this chapter, the dynamic world of ionic liquids is described from an overview point of view and recent developments in the field of ionic liquids are summarized.
