Synopsis

Developments in technology and commercial activities have brought to the agenda the need for institutions to be more agile in adapting to evolving and changing commercial conditions. With globalization, e-commerce, socio-economic crises and increasing uncertainty, businesses’ ability to continue their lives in intense competition conditions has become dependent on their agility, ability to make fast and flexible decisions and their potential to implement them. Fast decision-making, flexible movement ability, effective teamwork, anticipating uncertainties, development in line with competencies are some of the basic skills required for organizational agility in constantly changing and developing market conditions. In today’s world, businesses that make fast, flexible and effective decisions are businesses that have high response capabilities to crises and serious problems faced by businesses. In today’s business world, where wars, natural disasters, epidemics, economic and political crises are constantly experienced and uncertainties in the markets increase day by day, having these skills is vital for businesses to continue their existence.

Today, many institutions implement a series of change initiatives by determining short, medium and long-term performance targets. The implementation of a new growth strategy, changes to business units, the integration of a new purchasing activity into the institution or a new improvement effort for activities directs institutions to change and produce new policies and processes. Therefore, being an agile organization also brings with it being fast, flexible and effective in all processes in the business. Businesses that develop appropriate strategies in processes related to the supply chain, information communication processes, customer-centricity, processes related to human resources, production and production planning, and quickly implement them will continue their existence and provide fast and effective answers to the problems they encounter throughout their lives.

In this section, the term organizational agility will be explained conceptually and the strategies that institutions can develop to keep up with change will be discussed.
