Synopsis
With the advancement of technology, artificial intelligence (AI), which continues to develop rapidly, has led to significant transformations in both daily life and the business world. AI has been a subject of research for over 60 years, but in recent years, it has attracted more attention and has become a cutting-edge technology (Wang, 2019). AI, which is integrated with robots, software, computer systems, and various devices, is claimed to have the potential to automate human thought processes (Kumari & Verma, 2024). AI is significantly shaping human life. In recent years, AI has made remarkable progress in speech and object recognition, making it possible to produce robots that are indistinguishable from humans in terms of physical appearance and speech. Moreover, it accelerates scientific discoveries in fields such as medicine, biology, and economics (Lee & Qiufan, 2022). AI, which continues to rise with technological advancements and innovations, is also transforming the business world and providing great convenience to the industry (Purwaamijaya et al., 2021). This technology is fundamentally changing collaboration processes, decision-making mechanisms, and learning methods in workplaces (Singh & Pandey, 2023). In the business world, AI is actively used in various fields such as selecting suitable candidates for positions, providing financial product recommendations to customers, handling customer insurance transactions, planning complex logistics, conducting financial operations, diagnosing diseases and suggesting treatments, and tracking crimes (Von Krogh, 2018). With the development of artificial intelligence, human resources management is also experiencing significant changes (Wang, 2019, p.298). The human resources management practices that artificial intelligence has most affected include performance management, workforce planning, human analytics, virtual assistants, career guidance, leadership and coaching (Sakka et al., 2022, p.3). The adoption of artificial intelligence in human resources management is of critical importance (Singh & Pandey, 2023, p.3). However, the rapid advancement of AI can cause concerns in society. The point that should not be overlooked here is that artificial intelligence does not possess free will. All operations performed by this technology are based on data and commands provided by humans. As a result, AI serves as an auxiliary tool for humanity. Furthermore, AI systems do not possess certain human-specific competencies, such as creativity, empathy, and manual dexterity (Lee & Qiufan, 2022). Scientists have differing opinions on the opportunities and potential risks associated with AI. While some experts argue that advancements in AI will create new opportunities for individuals and societies, others express concerns that these developments may lead to negative long-term effects (Schmidt, 2020). This section examines the historical development of AI, its impact on human life, and its role in the business world and management. Additionally, it focuses on how AI is transforming management processes and the concept of leadership.
