Türkiye entered into a rapid urbanisation process with the 1950s. As a result of the technological developments of the period, the introduction of modern tools in agriculture, the repulsive elements of rural areas and the attraction of urban areas have triggered the urbanisation process. Today, especially with the effect of globalisation, the needs of the urban population are diversifying and differentiating in Türkiye as in the world. In this context, it is becoming more difficult to meet the growing urban population services such as housing, transport, infrastructure, education and health, and the pressure on the environment is increasing in this process. At this point, cities have started new searches that will meet their expectations, will not harm the environment, will maintain the sustainability of the system, and will ensure the sustainability of the cities against climate change and disasters that have reached serious dimensions globally. As a result, the resilient city approach has become widespread today. In this respect, the aim of the study is to reveal how the globalised world and Türkiye in particular, exhibit an attitude to these changes at the point of urbanisation. In addition, what has been done in Türkiye in terms of resilient city approach has also been discussed and reflected in the study. In this context, in the study, which is designed to review domestic and foreign literature, firstly, how the urbanisation process started in Türkiye and its current situation is explained. Subsequently, conceptual explanations and historical information about sustainable and resilient city approach are given. Finally, Türkiye’ s attitudes and approaches towards becoming a resilient city are discussed. It is obvious that Türkiye has put into practice important works towards becoming a resilient city, but at this point, existing legal norms should be revised according to the conditions of the day, inspections should be more effective, the number of related projects should be increased and local governments responsible for the management of the city have great duties.
