Synopsis

Disability is a situation where the individual cannot fully ensure self-efficacy and does not have the power to fulfil the activities in daily life. The way each disabled person is integrated into the society is different because each disability is different from each other despite having similar characteristics. Disabled individuals have more needs than non-disabled individuals in society and this makes accessibility in urban life important. This study aims to address the accessibility levels of physically disabled individuals in urban life under the right of access phenomenon.  In this study, which is based on the questions ‘What are the differences in access according to disability status differences?’ and ‘How does taking into account the needs of people with disabilities in urban planning affect their participation in social life?’, 9 participants were interviewed with semi-structured interview technique using qualitative research method.  As a result, the participants mentioned the problems they face in accessing education, health, public and private sector buildings and social activity areas. As expectations; they made suggestions such as life coach support in family and counselling centres, specially designed public transport vehicles of colour and the design of sidewalk railings.
