Asthma is an important public health problem whose prevalence in children has increased in recent years. Symptoms such as runny nose, nasal itching, cough and shortness of breath are seen as attacks at certain times. This condition may adversely affect children’s physical and psychosocial health parameters and negatively affect their quality of life. Therefore, the asthma process needs to be managed systematically under the control of healthcare professionals. Nurses are the most important healthcare professional group that takes an active role in the management of asthma in children. Systematic management of asthma involves the joint management of the child diagnosed with asthma, the child’s family, schoolmates, teachers, nurses and other employees working at school. For children with asthma, various interventions are planned and implemented by nurses for the child, family members, schoolmates and individuals working at school. Among the interventions with evaluated positive effects, education programs planned for the child and the individuals around him/her, home visit application, telehealth education intervention, mobile application-supported interventions, school-based interventions and asthma academy for family members are used in the management of children with asthma. In addition, continuous and regular training programs are organized for health professionals on asthma management. These interventions provide systematic management of the child with asthma, reduce the frequency of asthma attacks, emergency admissions, out-of-control hospital admissions, and increase the compliance of the child and family members to treatment and care. Therefore, it is important for nurses to use interventions that have been applied and evaluated for their effectiveness in the management of asthmatic children in order to increase the quality of care.
