Effects of Drying Methods on the Physical Properties of Leather
Synopsis
Drying process is one of the most important leather production processes which determines the basic structural, chemical and physical state of the leather and is necessary for the conversion of the leather into usable form. Different drying methods are used in the production of shoe leathers and the changes in the physical properties of the leathers are also different. In this study, hang, wet toggle and vacuum drying methods were used for drying shoe leathers and their effects on the physical properties of the leathers were compared.
As a result, it is seen that statistically significant changes in physical properties occur with the use of different drying methods and conditions. Especially wet toggle drying used for drying shoe leathers is a preferable method due to the advantages it provides in some physical properties.
