Synopsis

Leadership, which has existed since the existence of human beings, can be defined as the power that mobilizes a group of people for a specific purpose. For the leader, it is important to achieve the goal, not who sets the goal and for what (Ozkan, 2023). Leaders are the people who direct people to walk towards the same goal in structures such as organizations and institutions, as well as bringing new visions and missions to institutions. Leaders are people who can establish strong and close communication with people, who can quickly adapt to different environments, who are farsighted, honest, reliable, open to new and different views (Serhat, 2015). In modern life, people, institutions and structures constantly need to renew themselves. For this, people who offer different and creative ideas are needed. This requires different leadership characters under different conditions and circumstances. It is possible to see these different leadership characteristics in many people in life, but it is very important to create opportunities and conditions that will enable these people to emerge (Kousez & Posner, 2018).

Nowadays, factors such as intense work tempo, sedentary life, irregular and unhealthy nutrition have led people to seek various sportive activities. This has led to the formation of various institutions and various sportive activities, both public and private. Today, these institutions have become new socialising areas for people. Especially private businesses need to organise various and different activities in order to attract people who want to do sports to their businesses. The fact that these structures need forward-thinking, different thinking people with leader character has enabled leadership to take its place in the field of sports as well as in the field of management. Public and private enterprises need leaders who can offer different organisations and competition ideas to attract people's attention.

As a result, sport management needs leaders who can organise different opinions and ideas together in a dynamic structure. In order to meet this need, leaders should be people with vision and mission who can adapt to all kinds of environments around common goals and interests.
