Synopsis
Nowadays, smart products such as mobile devices, laptops and tablets, whose new versions are constantly being released to the market due to their rapid development, are frequently used by individuals as a tool that makes life easier. With smart products, individuals can easily receive many services needed from banking to shopping. Similarly, with the smart tourism approach, it is possible to provide services that increase the satisfaction of tourists and exceed their expectations in all stages of purchasing, using and post-using touristic products in the tourism sector through smart technologies such as the internet of things, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, mobile applications. In this context, smart cities in terms of smart tourism destinations in the tourism sector; in terms of tourism businesses, it emerges as an element that facilitates and accelerates the service received by tourists. With smart technologies used in tourism, it becomes easier to offer personalized products to tourists, increase demand for destinations and tourism businesses, attract different tourist groups with effective promotions and increase market share. Smart tourism has enabled the spread of smart destinations and, in particular, smart hotels for tourism businesses. Accordingly, it can be thought that in the future, tourists will primarily prefer destinations and products dominated by smart tourism technologies. Therefore, the adoption of smart tourism is becoming an important strategy for destinations and tourism businesses to gain competitive advantage.
