Synopsis

The success of earthquake-resistant structure design is highly related to the accurate prediction of earthquake loads on the structure. Earthquake hazard maps used for this purpose may become outdated over time, or new earthquakes make the adequacy of these maps questionable. For this purpose, earthquake hazard analyzes specific to the project site are carried out. Within the scope of this study, a site-specific earthquake hazard analysis was carried out in İstanbul province, Başakşehir district, and equal hazard spectrums for different earthquake levels were created and compared with the spectrum recommended in the Turkish Building Earthquake Regulation (TBDY, 2018).
