Synopsis
This section provides an in-depth review of the definitions, types, strategies, and applications of organizational power and politics. Organizational power is defined as the capacity of individuals or groups to influence decision-making processes, and this power can occur in various types. Some of these are information power, formality (position) power, charisma, reward and punishment power. Organizational power is an important factor that shapes the relationships and work processes of managers and employees in the workplace. Organizational politics is the set of strategic actions and decisions made by individuals or groups in order to protect or increase their personal interests. These policies affect the power dynamics within the organization and can sometimes negatively affect work efficiency. Effective management of organizational politics is important for creating productive work environments. Strategies used in the management of politics can cover a wide range from subordinate-superior relations to persuasion and negotiation techniques. The section also presents different types of organizational power and politics and solution suggestions on their management, and examines the application areas of these concepts with both national and international examples. As a result, proper management of power and politics in organizations plays an important role in increasing business success.
