Synopsis
Inflation is one of the main problems that shape the economic policies of developed or developing countries. Türkiye, which is among the developing economies and has been struggling with inflation for many years, has implemented many economic programs to keep inflation rates at acceptable levels. In this study, the changes in the general level of prices over the last hundred years from the founding of Türkiye to the present have been examined. For this purpose, the changes in the Wholesale Price Index (WPI), Consumer Prices Index (CPI) and Producer Prices Index (PPI) along with the important developments in these periods are discussed. Economic policies implemented depending on national and international events that occurred from time to time in the Turkish century generally failed to keep inflation rates at acceptable levels.
