Synopsis
This chapter discusses the impact of digital technologies on distance education and academic experiences, especially through solutions and new approaches during the pandemic. The education sector, which is undergoing a major transformation today, is making significant progress with the support of innovative technologies such as distance education platforms, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), data mining, and augmented/virtual reality (AR/VR). This study revealed the satisfaction rate of instructors with distance education and the areas for improvement. While the technical support and ease of use of online platforms were appreciated, it was emphasized that live lecture systems in particular need to be improved. In conclusion, the future effectiveness of distance education depends on developing mixed (hybrid) education models and integrating digital technologies into these models. Increasing technical support, content development, and professional development programs for instructors is a critical requirement. Digital technologies will continue to remain at the forefront in ensuring the continuity of education in times of crisis.
