Synopsis
In this study, two main factors, namely technology and the pandemic process, were mentioned in the transformation of the concept of recreation into e-recreation. The first of these factors, technology, is increasing its importance in recreational activities day by day, especially because it enables many activities that are difficult to do physically and to have a new experience. Another factor in the transformation of recreation into e-recreation can be seen as the pandemic process. The Covid-19 related pandemic process has directed people to two different recreational activities. One of these is outdoor recreation, which can also be called open space recreation. The second is technological environments. Many activities can be carried out in technological environments as recreational activities, from virtual tours for education, experience, culture and tourism purposes to e-sports activities, from competitions to visits to relatives. In this context, the aim of this study is to define the concept of e-recreation, which has emerged as a new concept with the development of digital technology in the information age and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, and to contribute to the literature by examining examples of e-recreation activities.
