Synopsis
The primary aim of this research is to identify the clarinet etude books utilized by clarinet educators working in music education departments and fine arts high schools and to reveal the methodologies educators employ while using these etude books. The research group consists of 12 clarinet educators working in fine arts education departments and music education departments in education faculties as well as in fine arts high schools. A qualitative research approach was employed in the research to gather data and to understand and reveal the current situation. In this context, research data was obtained through a semi-structured interview form created by the researchers, finalized with the approval of 3 experts, and these data were analyzed descriptively. It has been determined that all clarinet educators utilize etude books in clarinet education; the most frequently used etude books are Klose, Baermann, and Rose etude books, and Wiedemann etude book is also frequently used alongside these three books for beginner/intermediate/advanced-level students. It has also been detected that there are no clarinet etude books encountered in the genre of contemporary Turkish music, and the clarinet educators have a need for such a book.
