Synopsis

Tourism is one of the most important sectors that provide economic development to countries. Recently, mass tourism has been replaced by alternative tourism types and tourism movements have been diversifying. One of these tourism types is health tourism. Health tourism is classified as medical, thermal and advanced age-disabled tourism. Within the scope of health tourism, people travel with the desire to be treated and live a healthy life, and at the same time benefit from tourism services in the destinations they visit. Like other types of tourism, health tourism also affects economic growth. Many countries in the world make significant investments in order to get a share from the health tourism market. In this study on health tourism, firstly, the conceptual framework of health tourism is given and its economic effects are mentioned.
