Synopsis

The term anthropocene, which refers to the impact of human activities on ecosystems, defines the geological epoch in which we live. This era is characterized by many environmental problems, especially climate change. It was in the first quarter of the 1960s that climate change became problematic and began to enter the agenda of art. Under these circumstances, depending on the changing social and political agenda, contemporary artists have realized various exhibitions and projects in order to reveal the devastating effects of global warming and raise social awareness. In this context, climate-centered hybrid works may have the benefit of drawing public attention to global warming and possible future environmental hazards. By presenting examples of contemporary artworks centered on climate change, this study explores the power of these works to raise awareness and call for action on climate change by examining how they function as both a form of creative expression and a powerful tool for social dialogue.
