Synopsis

The characteristics and behaviors of the leader have an important impact on the successful management of the crisis process. In the fight against the crisis process that emerges at an unexpected time, the successful implementation of crisis management by developing solutions to the problems of the countries depends on the policies implemented by the management and the behaviors exhibited by the leader. Leaders who increase the level of credibility and trust in the society within the scope of combating the crisis moment play an important role in the successful management of the crisis. At the same time, the leadership styles exhibited may have different effects on the level of trust in the leader and the success of crisis management. This study was conducted to reveal the effects of different leadership styles on the success of crisis management. In the study, among the leadership styles that are effective in crisis management; task-oriented, servant, transformational, charismatic, visionary, collaborative and authoritarian leadership styles were examined. Within the scope of the study; leadership, the role of the leader in the crisis management process, leadership styles that are effective in crisis management and practices related to crisis management were examined in the context of the leader's behaviors. Qualitative data collection techniques including literature review and document analysis were used as data collection methods in the study. In the light of the reviews in the literature, the findings of the relevant studies were evaluated by considering the effects of leadership behaviors exhibited in crisis management on the crisis process through case studies. It has been observed that the behaviors and leadership styles exhibited by the leader in combating the crisis process have a significant impact on the success of crisis management. It is thought that the study will make an important contribution to the literature by examining the effects of leadership behaviors exhibited during the crisis process through case studies in different countries and revealing different practices.
